the misconceptions and lack of understanding surrounding addiction

 

I fell asleep.  Took my meds early.  Porq ese viejo no deja dormir, siempre rroncando. I’ve been waking up every morning at 2:00am. 

because of him.  

So I try and get an extra two hours early. At 4:30 I hit the snooze button to let it run till 4:45am; ya después de un tiempo, ya el ritmo se me va acostumbrando. So I go to the bathroom, donde está roto..alguien dejó un pedazo de mierda…the toilet doesn’t flush cause it doesn’t work. But all the better. At least it doesn’t smell. So I’ll brush my teeth in 15 minutes.  I’ll be ready by 5:00am. 

I’ll go back to my room, I’ll make my bed.  I’ll fix my stuff.  My things my backpack: the computer; a water bottle. Whatever.  

And I’ll sit there and meditate to el viejo roncando.  

And I’ll wonder why this guy doesn’t use his inhaler before he goes to bed. 

Cause anytime he drinks, he doesn’t use it, and he snores.  But el viejo keeps drinking.  Knowing he needs to stop and to not fuck with taking his meds…instead he takes a drink. Cause no one says in the book that you can’t have just one drink.  If you just have one drink, that means you’re not an alcoholic.  

Although we suffer from  a phenomenon, known as ‘a craving’, it doesn’t mean we’re wrong when we use that craving to go to sleep. 

Those are just my two cents. . 

I’m grateful to be working.  And finally finding a nice little job where I have a routine.

I’m gonna get to work.  

In the same manner my mom does all the time, while having the discipline to care for a dog.  

Happy 2024.  We used to be in 2020, “with 20/20 vision”, now it’s 20/24– and it used to be 20/21
